Grommets close this tutu!

Use a needle to make one gathering stitch through five layers of tulle.

CIMG1545

Double thread your needle and knot the end.

A larks head knot will be used to secure the thread at the first stitch.

Do this so when the gathering begins the thread will not pull through the net or tulle for tne duct tape tutu.

Typically, two and a half to three times the waist width will be enough.

Do not bother to sew up the sides if you need more than one length on net.

Just slightly overlay the length over the next length and keep on gathering.

CIMG1548

Duct tape is intrinsically difficult to use.  My technique to to put the duct tape on the door frame.

I then lift the tape a few inches at a time and put the net under the tape.

CIMG1549

Once the first layer of the duct tape tutu is taped to the duct tape securely carefully lift the tutu and place it on a working surface.

CIMG1551

The long ends of the duct tape are folder over the tutu.

A duct tape tutu!

Place grommets in the back of the tutu and tie with ribbon.

  1. Truthfully, I have made just a few subtle changes to this design, and it turned out a pancake tutu! =D With my changes, it was secure enough for dance class, and it is made so quickly! I love this idea.
